| Objective: To investigate the curative effects of the Levonorgestrel-releasing intra-uterine system (Brand name: Mirena) for adenomyosis and dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB). Methods: A total of 101 patients with adenomyosis and DUB from Oct. 2005 to Feb. 2006 were divided into three groups. Group A (30 patients with adenomyosis) and Group B (23 patients with DUB) were treated with Mirena. Group C (48 patients with adenomyosis) was treated with administration mifepristone 10 mg every day. The curative effects on dysmenorrhea, the amount of vaginal bleeding, bleeding times, menstrual cycle, hemoglobin in Group A and B were followed up and observed after 1,2, 3 month's treatment respectively. The curative effects and dysmenorrhea of Group C were examined for the same frequently. Then, Group C & Group A were compared with each other. Results: There were significant differences between Group A and B before and after the treatment, in terms of the amount of vaginal bleeding, bleeding times, menstrual cycle and hemoglobin, which were improved (P<0.01). The relief rate of dysmenorrhea in Group A reached 70 %, which was significantly distinct before and after the theropy (P< 0.05). Compared in curative effects and side-effects, Group A was superior to Group C (P<0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of Mirena on patients with adenomyosis and dysfunctional uterine bleeding can both relieve the symptoms and remain fertility. And its effects are superior to... |
