Herba sedi is a herb of the commonly used herbal medicals .which originates from the fresh or dry herb of Sedum sarmentosum Bunge.It was recored in Chines e Pharmacopoeia (2005 I) ,and had the effects of damp elimination, heat-clearing and disintoxicating. To treat jaundice with damp-heat pathogen, difficulty in micturit ion,carbuncle,swelling,pyocutaneous disease;acute hepatitis and chronic hepatitis.Herba ls recorded "clearing away the heat-evil and expelling superficial evils, cooling blood to stop bleeding, promoting urination and jaundice,to cure sore,furuncle, Swelling of throat, throat tinea,burn,hepatitis". Men of learning this plant had separated many kinds of constituents,including sarmentosin, flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenoid etal. Pharmacology experiments indicated that Sedum sarmentosum Bunge had contributio n to liver protection, immune suppression and anti- bacteria. At present,clinical applic ation contains Chui Pencao pian,Chui Pencao chongji and compound preparations of Sedum sarmentosum Bunge.
