Objective: To measure the level of serum uric acid (SUA) and investigate the correlation between SUA and the severity of coronary heart disease. Methods: 231 patients received coronary angiography were divided into CHD group and control group, then CHD group were divided into single-vessel group and multi-vessel group, according to the results of coronary angiography. Their levels of SUA, LP(a) and Fg were measured with usual procedures. Results: SUA levels in the patients of the CHD group were higher than that in the patients of the control group [ (337.56±67.12) umol/L vs (300.57±94.00) umol/L, P<0.01]. The SUA levels in the patients of the multi-vessel group were higher than that in the patients of the single-vessel group [ (353.29±74.53 ) umol/L vs ( 320.81±54.09 ) umol/L, P < 0.05] and there were no significant difference in the levels of LP(a) and Fg in the two groups. Logistic regression analysis showed that SUA and age were closely related with the coronary artery disease. Conclusion: There is a close relationship between SUA level and the severity of coronary artery disease.
