Objective: Trace elements have important effect in the progress of human physiology and biochemistry. The relationship between trace elements and disease has been focused on. There are many studies reports about the relationship between trace elements and cancer now, for example, lung cancer,gastric cancer and liver cancer, et al. But studies about carcinoma of large intestine are few. Generaly, carcinoma of large intestine and gastric cancer are studied together as tumor of alimentary system. In this thesis, the levels of ten trace elements in the carcinoma of large intestine and side of carcinoma tissue of 36 patients were detected to study the relationship of trace elements with the generation and development of the carcinoma of large intestine .Method: The carcinoma samples and the side of carcinoma tissue samples were collected from hospital and dipped in the formalin solution. The samples should be dried until the weights are fixed. Tissue of carcinoma and side of carcinoma were digested with HNO3-HClO4. The ratio of HNO3-HClO4 was 4:1. The Samples were dipped in above mixed acid till the next day and heated to transparent solution,and then fixed the capacity with deionized water. The levels of ten trace elements were detected by inductive coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) ,which can detect many trace elements at the same time.The detection method is fast and exact. Se was detected by atomic fluorescence spectrometry, which can detect volatile elements with higher sensitivity.Result: The concentrations of Fe,Cu,Al,Cr,Pb,Se in the carcinoma tissue are lower than that in the side of carcinoma tissue, the difference of Cr and Se is significant(P<0.05). The concentrations of Zn,Cd,Mo and Mnin the carcinoma samples are higher than that in the side of carcinoma tissue samples, the difference of Cd is significant(P<0.05). The degree of variation varies from these trace elements . The changing rate of Cd is maximal, which is 66.67% and that of Cu is minimal, which is 1.89%. These elements such as Cd,Al,Cr,Zn,Cu,Mn have the positive correlation in the carcinoma tissue;Fe and Zn,Fe and Al present positive correlation respectively. In the side of carcinoma tissue, Mn,Cu,Zn,Al have positive correlation with each other,Fe presents positive correlation with these four elements, respectively. Cd and Cr also present positive correlation with these four elements, respectively. Cd presents positive correlation with Cr.Conclusion: Significant deviation of the concentration of Cr,Cdand Se has been found between the carcinoma of large intestine and side of carcinoma, and this result indicates that the change of concentration of these trace elements is related to the generation and development of the carcinoma of large intestine,which is has important reference to clinical diagnosis and prognosis.
