Risk Factors Of Retinal Redetachment After Removal Of Intraocular Silicone Oil Tamponade

To invaluate the main risk factor of retinal redetachment after removal of silicone oil.Methods : Retrospective analysis the clinal data of 143 eyes underwent intraocular silicone oil removal from May 2005 to June 2007. Results:In 40 of 143 eyes ,the retina detached afer removal of silicone oil,7 eyes with proliferate diabitic retinopathy and 33 eyes with proliferate vitreoretinopathy,9 of 40 retina redetached eyes with postoperative vitreous haemorrhage, 12 of 40 retina redetached eyes with incomplete removal of the vitreous base, and 15 of 40 retina redetached eyes with previous retinal detachment surgeries .Conclusion : Risk factor of recurrent detachment after silicone oil removal included the following: proliferate vitreoretinopathy, postoperative vitreous haemorrhage ,incomplete removal of the vitreous base and previous retinal detachment surgeries.
