Objective To evaluate the prognostic factors affecting recurrence , progression andcancer-specific survival in patients with nonmuscle-invasive transitional cell carcinoma ofbladder.Materials and methods Using Kaplan-Meier method, Log-rank test and Cox proportionalhazards model, the retrospective survival analysis was performed in 236 patients withnonmuscle-invasive transitional cell carcinoma of bladder, all data were dealed withSPSS10.0.Results The recurrence rates at 3-, 5-, 10-year were 25.42% , 33.05% and 35.16%respectively. The progression rates at 3-, 5-, 10-year were 12.71% , 15.68% and 16.52%respectively. The rates of bladder preservation at 3-, 5-, 10-year were 91.52% , 89.45% , 87.50% respectively. The important prognostic factors for recurrence were the priorrencurrence history, the number of tumour, tumour size ,histological grades and intravesicalchemotherapeutic instillations. The important prognostic factors for progression were tumourshape ,the time between symptom occurence and treatment, histological grades and the priorrecurrence history. The important prognostic factors for cancer specific survival were theprior recurrence history and histological grades. Conclusions By cancer-specific survival analysis of the follow-up data,we can identify themain prognostic factors was histological grades and the prior rencurrence history, intravesical chemotherapeutic instillations was the protective factor.
