Objective:To observe the effect of the Peripheral Facial Paralysis(PFP), treated by electro-acupuncture.Method:In the clinical observation,60 Patients were assigned randomly to the control group(the treatment of conventional acupuncture) and treated group(the treatment of electro-acupuncture).We observed 4 weeks and each consisted of 30 cases.Observation indicatives:the main symptoms and signs of facial paralysis.Refer to the 5th International Facial Neurosurgery Symposium recommended House Brackmann(H-B)facial nerve grading scale to process differing levels of severity. The main symptoms include the following 10 indicatrixes:depth of forehead wrinkle, size of rima oculi, change of nasolabial groove, aslant mouth, air leak from the cheek, retained food in the cheek, impairment of taste, hyperacusis, lachrymation eye muscle reflex. The effect is judged according to the 5th International Facial Neurosurgery Symposium which recommended the House Brackmann(H-B) facial nerve grading scale.Result:Before and 4 weeks after treatment, the H-B scores in the treatment group were 14.33±3.79 and 1.43±3.23,and 13.93±3.83 and 3.97±4.88 in the control group. There was a significant difference between before and after treatment in each group(P<0.01).But the treatment group was better than the control group after treatment(P<0.05).During the period of the treatment,After the treatment within three weeks, there was a significant difference between treated groups of five days and twelve days(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Electro-acupuncture treatment is effective treatment of PFP.2.The curative effect of the treated group is superior to the control group. |
