Expression And Significance Of P73 And VEGF In Cervical Lesions

Objective: To detect the expression and study the significance of p73 and VEGF protein in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer samples,and to analyze their correlations.Methods: The S-P immunohistochemical method was used.p73 and VEGF protein were detected in one hundred and ten cervical specimens, consisting of chronic cervicitis(n=18), cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(n=48) and cervical cancer samples(n=44).Results: (1) The expression of p73 was found in cell nucleus.The positive ratio of p73 in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer were 11.11%(2/18),47.92%(23/48),72.73%(32/44) respectively.The expression of p73 in cervical cancer was increased compared with chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)(p<0.05, p<0.05).There was different of p73 expression between cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and chronic cervical inflammation.The expression level of p73 was higher in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer than chronic cervicitis(p<0.05).(2) The expression of VEGF was found in cytoplasm. The positive ratio of VEGF in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)and cervical cancer were respectively 22.22%(4/18),54.17%(26/48),84.09%(37/44).The expression of VEGF has an increasing trend from chronic cervicitis ,cervical intraepithelial neoplasia to cervical cancer.There was difference of the VEGF expression between cervical intraepithelial neoplasia samples and cervical cancer samples (p<0.05).(3) The expression of p73 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia samples was respectively 12.50%(2/16),62.50%(10/16),68.75%(11/16). The positive ratio of p73 in CINII and CINII is higher than in CINI. (p<0.05). The expression of p73 was similar in CINII and CINIII(p>0.05).(4) The positive ratio of VEGF expression in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia was18.75%(3/16),68.75%(11/16),75.00%(12/16). The expression of VEGF was difference between CINI and CINII, CINI and CINIII.(p<0.05). The expression of VEGF in CINII is equal to CINIII(p>0.05).(5) Both of the p73 and VEGF expressions increased with the progression of cervical lesions.The analysis showed that the expression of p73 and VEGF were significantly correlated.Conclusions: (1) The expression of p73 in chronic cervical inflammation,cervical intraepithial neoplasia and cervical cancers were increased gradually. In cervical cancer samples ,the expression of p73 was correlated with clinical stage and histological type,but not with pathologic grade.That illustrated p73 has an important role in the development of cervical cancer.(2)The level of VEGF in chronic cervicitis,cervical intraepithial neoplasia and cervical cancer samples were also evaluated. In cervical cancer samples , expression of VEGF was correlated with clinical stage and histological type,but not with pathologic grade.It illustrated that VEGF involved in cervical cancer.(3) p73 protein is related to the VEGF protein in cervical lesions,they were positive correlation. The may play important roles in the development of cervical cancer.
