Objective : To investigate the effect of thyroid surgery on postoperative serum calcium changes.Method: Of September 2006 to September 2008 in our hospital with bilateral subtotal thyroid line, the side of the whole leaves and cut + isthmus subtotal contralateral, bilateral, or bilateral subtotal resection of 124 cases of patients , both pre-operative serum calcium and parathyroid surgery in situ protection of the Bank of China, on the next gland does not reveal any anatomical and exploration, to avoid the region adjacent to gland anatomy, the thyroid artery ligation in the thyroid between true and false, or close to the thyroid capsule carried out only under the most thyroid artery ligation level of 2,3 branching blood vessels, after three days to monitor their changes in serum calcium, parathyroid function observed.Result: Cases, 124 cases, 115 cases appeared after 3 d in the preoperative serum calcium level of less than 1, but were within the normal range, (see Table 1); 9 cases in which there hypocalcemia ( 7.3%), six cases of asymptomatic hypocalcemia (4.8%), there are 3 examples of symptoms of hypocalcemia (2.4%), no patients developed permanent hypoparathyroidism. Therefore, investigations were not cases of pathological parathyroid organizations see. For asymptomatic hypocalcemia given Caltrate D, arsenic oral tablets, each 2, 2 times / d, 1 weeks, serum calcium rose to normal and stop both. For weeks there mouth, numbness of limbs, a sense of acupuncture, hand-foot-twitching, muscle cramps and other symptoms of hypocalcemia, calcium gluconate 10 percent given 10ml intravenous needle, 1-2 times / d, at the same time serving Caltrate 1:3 D-B tablets, 2 each, 2 times / d. Disappear until the numbness out of 10% calcium gluconate injections, oral medication is still maintained, may be appropriate to increase the number of calcium to monitor all cases of postoperative hypocalcemia occurred in 3 months hypercalcemia. Conclusions: Thyroid surgery on postoperative changes in serum calcium have a certain impact on the protection of intraoperative parathyroid hormone and its blood supply, after three days of conventional detection of calcium can be effective in preventing permanent hypoparathyroidism after the occurrence.
