| ObjectiveThe purpose of this control study is to abserve the clinical effect and safety on acupuncture for Postpartum depression.MethodThe research objects were patients with postpartum depression, treatment group 35 cases and the same of control group. Treatment group:points selecting: Baihui(DU20), Yintang(EX-HN3), reproductive area (one 2cm line cited up from forehead frontal angle and paralled to sagittal line); treating method:with upine position, use needles of 1 inch in length, by 15~30 angle along the scalp, to puncture the points about 0.5 to 0.8 inch in depth, rapid twisting(60 times/min), power up 1 minute later, choose sparsate-dense alternating wave, frequenc of 2/100Hz, electric acupuncture for 30 minutes. Control group:only do basic treatment. Other therapeutic drugs should not be used during the trial. Treatment group were treated 5 times per week, three weeks for a course of treatment,2 courses of treatment totally.ResultIn this randomized controlled clinical trial, a total of 70 cases of qualified objects. Treatment group 35 cases and the same with control group, all were outpatients.Compared Indexes of the two groups before treatment, there was no significant difference, meaning baseline information between the two groups was comparable.Efficacy comparison:compared two groups of effect on Chinese medicine syndromes. The treatment group, clinical curative rate was 40%, markedly effective rate was 31.43%, effective rate was 22.86%, total effective rate was 94.29%; the control group, clinical curative rate was 31.43%, markedly effective rate was 28.57%, effective rate was 31.43%, total effective rate was 91.43%. The difference was not statistically significant between the two groups. After treatment, compared disappearance rate of mental anxiety, somatic anxiety, gastrointestinal symptoms, systemic symptoms, hypochondria, insight, body weight, sense of guilt, suicide, agitation, depersonalization, or derealization, paranoid symptoms, obsessive symptoms, day and night changes, depression, work and interest, retardation, sex symptoms, difficulties in falling asleep, nondeep sleep, early awakening, diminished capability, sense of hopelessness, inferiority complex and other major clinical symptoms or signs, the difference were not significant.Compared the two groups'HAMD scale scores before treatment, the difference was not statistically significant, showing the two groups was comparable. Treatment group (t=65.15, P=0.00), control group (t=65.17, P=0.00). Compared the improvement of HAMD scale scores in each group, the difference was statistically significant in both after treanment. After treatment, the difference was statistically significant between the two groups on HAMD scale scores (t=6.78, P=0.00). Compared the change sof HAMD scale scores in each group before and after treatment, the difference was statistically significant in both(t=0.986, P=0.00).Compared the two groups'EPDS scale scores before treatment, the difference was not statistically significant, showing the two groups was comparable. Treatment group (t=35.68, P=0.00), control group (t=35.72, P=0.00). Compared the improvement of EPDS scale scores in each group, the difference was statistically significant in both after treanment. After treatment, the difference was statistically significant between the two groups on EPDS scale scores (t=10.09, P=0.00)). Cmpared the changes of EPDS scale scores in each group before and after treatment, the difference was statistically significant in both(t=9.86, P=0.00).Sefety testing:in both groups, test results of patients'blood, urine, stool, liver function, ECG were all normal before treatment and no abnormal change was found after treatment.Adverse events observation:no adverse reaction was found after treatment. Conclusion Head acupuncture for postpartum depression has equivalent efficacy with basic treatment. The scores of HAMD and EPDS depression scale showed that head acupuncture was more effective in relieving patients'symptoms of depression. |
