Objective To investigate the relationship of risk between serum uric acid with different types of ischemic stroke patients and the correlation between carotid intima-media thickness and serum uric acid.Methods According to the selected conditions,Atherosclerosis cerebral infarction (ACI) 40 cases, lacunar cerebral infarction (LI) 30 cases,30 cases of normal control group, were performed to measure carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) by carotid ultrasound,and detected the determination of serum uric acid (UA), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), homocysteine (HCY) level, used statistical analysis,compared clinical variables between groups using t-test and frequencies among groups by chi-square test, Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify all the clinical variables..The datua were analyzed through the application of SPSS 17.0 software, and the difference was statistics significant when p is less than 0.05.Results1.The level of serum uric acid in atherothrombotic infarction patients is significantly higher than control group (P<0.05).2.The level of serum uric acid in lacunar infarction patients is significantly higher than control group (P<0.05).3.Compared the the level of serum uric acid in atherosclerosis cerebral infarction patientswih lacunar cerebral infarction, the difference is not statistics significant (P=0.408).4.To take ischemic stroke group and control group as dependent variables(ischemic stroke=l,no ischemic stroke=0),hypertension,TC,LDL,TG,UA as independent variables. Hypertension,High density lipoprotein hematic disease,hypercholesterolemia and high level UA had higher rateof cerebral infarction. (OR=3.948,95%CI=1.368-11.394, P=0.011;OR=4.57,95% CI=1.068-19.563,P=0.041;OR=4.311,95%CI=1.467-12.671,P=0.008;OR=3.044,95%CI=1.052-8 .812,P=0.04)5.There are two groups,carotid intima-media thicknesss group and carotid intima-media nomal group which are divided by IMT>1. 0mm, the level of serum unic acid and IMT of the former is higher than the latter, the difference has statistics significant.Conclusions Serum uric acid is closely related to the occurrence of carotid IMT thickening;Serum uric acid is closely related to the occurrence of acute ischemic stroke,higher level of serum uric acid may be one of the risk factors in the formation of ischemic stroke; the level of serum uric acid have significantly difference between ischemic stroke group (AI group and Li group) and the control group; SUA may play an important role in the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke subtype.
