Expression Of Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) In Vocal Fold Polyps

Abstract Objective:Detection of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) expression in normal tissue and polyp of vocal cord expression, understanding of COX-2 onset of vocal cord polyps further explore the pathogenesis,provide a theoretical basis for prevention and treatment..Materials And Methods:The pathological diagnosis confirmed, and the exclusion of other vocal cord lesions in 40 cases of vocal cord polyps specimens for the experimental group. Vocal cord tissue of normal control group of 20 cases. All specimens were stained by HE,the Max Vision TM immunohistochemistry, parallel computer image analysis. Results:In normal vocal cords in, COX-2 expression is weak, and in the vocal cord polyp epithelial cells, inflammatory cells, vascular endothelial cells, glandular cells, fibroblasts expressed strongly. Vocal cord polyp COX-2 positive units mean higher (37.9950±2.15586) than normal vocal group (22.6235±3.20561), significantly different (p<0.05).ONCLUSION:①vocal cord polyp is the result of many factors, all causes repeated damage the vocal cords, causing local congestion, edema, hemorrhage, epithelial degeneration, necrosis, hyperplasia, inflammatory cell infiltration, vascular proliferation, expansion.②vocal cord damage in the long-term process, because COX-2 and other related joint action of inflammatory mediators leading to chronic inflammation, vascular endothelial basement membrane damage, increased permeability of blood vessel walls, some through the vessel wall have been difficult to substances in the blood vessels into the tissue space, resulting in vocal cord lamina propria, in particular, Reinke, s interstitial edema, inflammatory cell infiltration, fibroblast proliferation, hyaline degeneration in the lamina propria connective tissue disorder, layered structure disappeared, polyp formation.③polyp development process, the synthesis of COX-2 promote angiogenesis polyps, polyps vascular proliferation, polyps get rich in blood supply to continue to grow.
