Objective: To investigate the expressions of Tenascin-C and microvessel density(MVD) in pancreatic carcinoma and to study the relationship between them with tumor angiogenesis and clinical pathology.Method: We had select embedded specimens from 49 patients who underwent operation for pancreatic cancer in the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from 2004 January to 2010 March, all patients were not receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other anti-cancer therapybefore surgery, and a complete follow-up data. We would have to select another 10 specimens of natural pancreatic tissue from to the benign pancreas and pancreatic injury compare the pancreatic cancer mentioned above. The expression of Tenascin-C and MVD were examined in 49 cases of pancreatic carcinoma and 10 cases of control group by the immunohistochemical SP technique.Statistical analysis:All the data were analyzed with SPSS13.0 statistics software. The statistical significance was defined as P<0.05.Result:â‘ The positive of Tenascin-C was 69.4% in pancreatic carcinoma and it was not detected in control group, while MVD showed widespread expression in pancreatic carcinoma tissues, but limited in control group, which showed significant difference(P <0.05).â‘¡In pancreatic carcinoma, Tenascin-C and MVD in the group with lymph node metastasis was significantly higher than in the group without lymph node metastasis.â‘¢The positive expressions of Tenascin-C and MVD were associated(r=0.367,P <0.05).Conclusion : Tenascin-C was over expressed in pancreatic carcinoma compared with negative expression in normal tissues, which suggested Tenascin-C may be biological marker in pancreatic carcinoma. What's more,it was associated with the expression of MVD. The levels of tenascin-C and MVD were useful molecular markers for evaluating angiogenesis and metastasis.
