Haruki Murakami, a contemporary Japanese author, has kept on composing for 30 years since his first masterpiece Hear the Wind Sing was published in 1979. The research object of this thesis is Murakami's 12 novels, and the rheological processes of the themes of these 12 novels are analyzed. From the ideal disillusion of the young generation in Youth Trilogy, to the alienated generation in the medium-term developed capitalist society, and then to rethinking the violence in Japan's history and contemporary society, Murakami's writing, from himself to the society, reflects his increasingly stronger sense of responsibility.The research object of the first chapter is the early novels "Youth Trilogy", and the theme of youth" disillusioned" is discussed. "Youth Trilogy" is the recalling and rethinking of their youthful years of those people who whom experience the postwar political storm. The research object of the second chapter is mid Murakami's novels, in which the theme of modern social "alienation" is described. In these novels, Murakami shows the images mental imbalance of urban residents. The third chapter describes the contemporary "violence" in Murakami's novels. This chapter points out the deep reasons of the violence are each individual's lost of rethinking ability and swimming with the stream. Chapter four, from Murakami's composing skill, analyzes the topic of how the self-identity crisis of the modern people is shown by Murakami.Through studying Murakami's novels, we can perceive Murakami's stick to the spiritual freedom. Murakami's composing always takes self-identity crisis as the spiritual core, reflecting the alienation of individuals from the. Murakami's novels show an individual resist path for readers, i.e., only by having the ability to introspect and not giving up the subjectivity of oneself, can people establish a true self, get rid of alienation, and stop "violence" from occurring.
