A Contrastive Study Of Agricultural Terms In Chinese And Vietnamese

From a linguistic point of view ,this paper would have a comparison and study about the agricultural terms in Vietnamese , Chinese as well as Zhuang-Dong languages. On the basis of the former studies, I used the theory of historical comparative linguistics, combining with relevant historical, archaeological materials, the ancient and modern knowledge of agriculture, the Vietnamese and Chinese terms related to agriculture, to make a comparison about agricultural terms in Vietnamese,Chinese as well as Zhuang-Dong languages, so as to find out the corresponding relations and the differences among them. And made a discussion about Sino-Vietnam agriculture exchange, especially the exchange of traditional agriculture.The paper focused on the following aspects: the first part explained the purpose, significance, methods of this paper, it also made a concise introduction to the recent researches related to Sino-Vietnam's agricultural exchange in the academic circles. In the second part, I divided agricultural vocabulary into four categories: the land and agricultural facilities, crops, farm tools and farming, and the other words. And then I chose some words from the Vietnamese and Chinese as well as Zhuang-Dong languages, which have corresponding relationships among these languages, the words which have corresponding relationship between Vietnamese and Chinese, the words which have corresponding relationship between Vietnamese and Zhuang-Dong languages ,and unique Vietnamese words to make analyses and elaborations. In the third part, I try to analyze and summarize the corresponding relation and differences of the words.
