The Research On The Verb Valence In Shangkan Dialect Of Dong Language

On the basis of the valence grammar theory, "three-plane" theory andsemantic feature analysis theory, more than 500 verbs in common use in ShangkanDialect of Dong Language have been examined in this paper, and valence of verbshave been analyzed.The procedures of the research were as follows. First, first-hand material ofDong verbs were collected and classified; Second, verbs and relevant componentswere analyzed of their semantics roles by using the semantic feature theory; Third,Inspired by Mr. Yuan Yulin, we divided the Dong verbs into four valence levelssuch as sub-linking, item, position and valence; Fourth, subordinate syntacticconfiguration between the verbs and other components were analyzed; Fifth, verbswere analyzed with the theory of three-plane such as semantic, syntactic andpragmatic. The paper is divided into six sections: In section I, the present researchof the grammar of Dong language and the valence grammar at home and abroadwere introduced, the significance, the content and the methods of the research wereexplained; In sectionâ…¡, the theoretical basis of Dong Verb valence is described; Insection III-VI, verbs with different valences are analyzed separately.
