Xiang Dialect and Gan Dialect are two independent dialects of modern Chinese dialects. And they can be differentiated by "the current pronunciation of ancient sonant initial" alone. However, when we go back to ancient documents, the history of migration and the fact of the current language, we can notice that Xiang Dialect and Gan Dialect are closely related. The studies on Xiang Dialect or Gan Dialect are enormous. But the comparative studies on Xiang Dialect and Gan Dialect are limited in number. My hometown, Liuyang, give me a rare chance to go on an integrated study on Xiang Dialect and Gan Dialect.Liuyang is located between Hunan province and Jiangxi province. Pingxiang city of Jiangxi province lies to the east of Liuyang and Changsha city to the west. So Liuyang is surrounded by Xiang Dialect and Gan Dialect. Moreover, because of the ancient immigration from Jiangxi province, the dialects of Liuyang are complicated. There are Xiang Dialect, Gan Dialect and Hakka Dialect in Liuyang city. Liuyang is usually divided into four parts: dongxiang(东乡), nanxiang(å— ä¹¡),xixiang(西乡), beixiang(北乡).And the Liuyang Dialect is also usually divided into four parts: dongxiang hua(东乡è¯), nanxiang hua(å— ä¹¡è¯),xixiang hua(西乡è¯), beixiang hua(北乡è¯). xixiang hua(西乡è¯) belongs to Xiang Dialect. And dongxiang hua(东乡è¯), nanxiang hua(å— ä¹¡è¯), beixiang hua(北乡è¯) and Chengguan hua(城关è¯) belong to Gan Dialect. There is Hakka Dialect in remote mountainous districts of dongxiang(东乡) and nanxiang(å—乡).Based on the description of the sound system and its characteristics of Zhentou hua(镇关è¯, the representive dialect of Xiang Dialect in Liuyang) and Chengtanjiang hua(澄æ½æ±Ÿè¯, the representive dialect of Gan Dialect in Liuyang),the thesis deals with the comparative study on the phonology of Changsha hua(é•¿æ²™è¯),Zhentou hua(镇头è¯), Liuyang Chengguan hua (æµé˜³åŸŽå…³è¯) ,Chengtanjiang hua (澄æ½æ±Ÿè¯) and...
