The Study Of Speech Sounds Of Dongtang Dialect In Xiangyin County Of Hunan Province

Xiangyin is situated in the northeast of Hunan Province, bordering Dongting lake. But up till now, formal research on Xiangyin Dialect is somehow still vacant. Based on practiacl research and investigation, the author elaborates the phonological system of Dongtang Dialect, which is a branch of Xiangyin Dialect, analyzes some characters of its sound and pronunciation, expecting to make contributions to the study and research on Xiangyin Dialect by offering some detailed, fresh and reliable information.The article is composed of six parts.Introduction: introducing the location, population, history and general situation of dialect used in Xiangyin and location, population and organiational stystem in Dongtang and elaborating the research meaning of this article.Phonetic system of Dongtang Dialect: full describing the system and collocation of the consonants, vowels and tone of this dialect, and deducting some vital features in collocation of consonants, vowelas and tone.Phonological characteristic of Dongtang Dialect: revealing the phonological characteristic of Dongtang Dialect from the view of its consonants, vowelas and tone.Variant pronunciation in literary reading and colloquial reading of Dongtang Dialect: discussing the variant pronunciation in literary and colloquial reading of Dongtang Dialect from the consonants, vowels and tone.Homonym form of Dongtang Dialect.Sound comparison: including the comparison between Dongtang Dialect and the Putonghua and the comparision between Xiangyin Dialect and Changsha Dialect as well.
