The complicated 20th century was an era in that it witnessed a surging of schools and ideological trend of literature. Schools of literature such as symbolism, stream of consciousness, Dadaism, expressionism, existentialism, etc. went into the western literary world in succession. The ideological trend gradually spread to China and influenced the Chinese literature ideological trend. Under the pushing of the New Culture Movement, the brand-new appearance had appeared too in Chinese literature in the 20th century. Large quantities of outstanding literary works emerged in the Chinese and foreign literature history in this period. Biography of the Hulan River by Xiao Hong and A la Recherche du Temps Perdu by Proust was two unique works which made it fresh contrasting with Chinese and foreign traditional literature at that time.This article mainly make comparison from three aspects, between Xiao Hong and Proust as well as their representative works: Biography of the Hulan river and A la Recherche du Temps. The text surface of the works, that is, memory to the lost paradise of childhood is contrasted in part one. This part describes the childhood, one totally self- ideal world when Xiao Hong and Proust owned in common. Part two deepen it to behind of the text and make comparison between the two sober people's deep concerns on the unbreakable existence predicament of the mankind. It reflects that both the writers pay attention to human nature and pitiful feelings in actual life. Part three focuses on the comparison on the aspects of the close artistic tactics, the same aesthetics and thought value between the two writers.
