As a female writer living in the war years, Xiao Hong is able to assume her own delicate shoulders on ethnic, national historical responsibility, regardless of the outcome, this is also a lot of courage contemporary male writers never achieved. Therefore, this article is trying to use the national character of Xiao Hong as a central argument, and her specific practice in the creation of start on, thereby establishing the innovation and importance of Xiao Hong’s national character.This paper is divided into four parts:Introduction, firstly,I want to introduces the academic study of the current status of Xiaohong; secondly, I should introduce the basic concept of national character briefly, while combing National Thought in Modern Chinese Literature and its influence on the development process.The second chapter discusses the source of Xiaohong’s national character clearly, mainly discussing on Xiao Hong inheriting and developing Lu Xun’s national character, Xiao Hong can successfully enter the Chinese writer ranks inseparting Lu Xun’s help, his profound impact on Xiao Hong existing in the her entire creative career. Xiao Hong is the main successor of Lu Xun’s national character, she bears an unfinished historical task of Lu Xun, she not only inherited Lu Xun’s national character, but also had something different with Lu Xun in many ways, even in some areas she made something Lu Xun never do.
