Chinese Shi Jing (The Book of Songs) and Shakespeare's Sonnet , being both born in the first literature climax of each country, belong to the same theme and type—love and lyric. The love poems in the two poetry collections established the basic poetry development direction and the lyric pattern of each country's poetry inditement, especially the love lyric poem. This paper uses the analytical method of layer of structure to compare Shi Jing with Shakespeare's Sonnet on two layers: layer of language and layer of image. At last, It concludes the distinct aesthetic perception of literature from different country with dissimilar cultural background. The distinct aesthetic perceptions of love lyrics in both Shi Jing and Shakespeare's Sonnet are derived from their particular ethical cultural and literary traditions——Yanzhi (express one's emotion) and Imitation .First, on the layer of language, Shi Jing was born during the primitive days with a few Chinese characters. So, a Chinese character was often used repetitiously to show the feature of Sinitic reiterative recitation. This feature impressed readers deeply and got a perfect lyric effect; While Shakespeare's Sonnet was born in a connecting period between the preceding and the following, therefore the English characters had enough freedom to develop in a huge space with powerful societal promotion. So poets could create new words and rhythm to get much clearer consecution and the dramatic sound effects.Second , on the layer of image , the bitty images of Shi Jing were only desultory descriptions of snapshot without self-driven consistency ; On the contrary , there was not only a unclear story with"volta"("turn") structure by using"contrast"rhetorical method in Shakespeare's single Sonnet ,but also a subtile narrative clue which organically linked the whole 154 poems in Shakespeare's Sonnet Sequence .In a conclusion , this article discusses the different love lyrics from different country with heterogeneous cultures and proves that they have particular ethical cultural and literary traditions——Yanzhi (express one's emotion) and Imitation .
