This paper studies the literary and colloquial readings of Minnan dialect in Fujian and Eastern Guangdong Province, it includes two parts.Firstly, we discuss this kind of difference among seven subdialects in Eastern Guangdong Province. With regard to colloquial pronunciation, we conclude that traditional education and ChaoShan Theatre culture have effect on reading system in the individual of different district; as for literary pronunciation, three reasons may cause the difference: 1. the reduce in the usages of some idiom; 2. the competition between colloquial pronunciation and literary pronunciation; 3. the reciprocal borrowing and influence from each dialects.Secondly, we compare the literary and colloquial readings of Quanzhou dialect with Chaozhou dialect. Through studying the difference on three aspects: syllable, phoneme category, vocabulary, we believe that the law of phonetic development and the pragmatics bring out these difference.
