Student's patriotic education is important as the following reasons: it is the strategic needs that relates between the fate of the country's future and the nation ; it is the challenge that replies economic globalization; it is the practice need that implements the scientific concept of development and builds a harmonious society ; it is the reality calling of the healthy growth of students . But the patriotic education of college students consists some problems ,the reason may be analyzed from five areas: the urgency and necessity of education, the educational purpose, the teaching carrier, the teaching effectiveness and the teaching evaluation.The analysis of Patriotism means abroad can provide a reference to China. The author find "Chinese History of Modern" as the New Patriotic Education mean, focuses on reflects of the theme of patriotism in the "Chinese History of Modern":First, analysis of the course characteristics about "Chinese History of Modern" : First, the content of China's history of aggression patriotism patriotic response to the humiliation of education; second, the history of the Chinese nation against foreign aggression contents of patriotism response to National spirit education; third, the modern history of China's national salvation response to of Marxist theory and love of the party education; fourth, the modern history of China's social and economic development response to a firm response to the socialist road of patriotism education.Second, proposing "Chinese History of Modern" course as a means of theoretical support for the patriotic education including educational theory, psychology theory and philosophy theory.Finally, discussing the theme of patriotism in the "Chinese History of Modern" course approach embodied in the curriculum, methods and means. Curriculums including the issue of teaching as the main channel; the history of festivals as an opportunity; the real hot issue in the material or significant events; the patriotism education base as a carrier; supplement the campus culture as a supplement. Methods include dialectical materialism as a methodology; the heuristic method of teaching as a general; specific methods which are through the whole process of the "Chinese History of Modern" teaching. Means Including promoting education; interactive education ; emotional education.
