The principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, which is inherited from the traditional educational thoughts, is identified as a guiding thought on educational and teaching principles and it influences the modern education theory and practice of teacher education. From the perspective of Hermeneutic, we have prejudice in understanding the principle of teaching students in accordance with aptitude. Applying this principle is a process of unification of explaining, understanding and applying it. Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude is the product of the individual teaching organizational form in history, reflecting the authority of the teachers in the teacher-student relationship and reflecting a subjective evaluation of students. Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude is the successor of Confucius classification educational ideology and the extension of the elitist educational ideology, the purpose of which is to select talents.At present, this principle plays an important role in the Chinese education principles and policies. Many important educational theory books and papers accept it as a guiding principle. Its inevitability has been proved from the perspective of psychology differences in many psychology theories. The educators and educational administrators have implemented this principle. Based on their understanding of this principle, phenomena have appeared as follows: the existence of the key school, the classification of students: excellent, ordinary and poor; the implementation of a special education which is a system of segregation for some children -- experimental schools and special schools, etc.The author holds that, as the successor of the thought of classification, teaching in accordance with the students aptitude is contrary to the fair law of modern education theory; There is apparent conflict between the special education in a segregating system and the inclusive education advocated in the modern theories; the traditional authorities of the teachers, which is given according to this principle, contradicts the equal partnership between the students and teachers; as a historical product of the organizational form of individual teaching, leaching students in accordance with their aptitude conflicts with the modern organizational form of class teaching form. From these points, we can see there are certain unreasonabilities in the principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude itself. It can only be accepted as a teaching method or pattern. He thinks they should discard this principle and promote the concept of "guiding the students in their leaning " instead.
