Purpose: To have a research on Professor Lan Zhang’s application of Supplementing Qi, nourishing Yin and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis.Summarizing the clinical experiences of treating painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy(PDPN) which are treated based on syndrome differentiation. Material and method: Working in an out-patient clinic to collect Professor Lan Zhang’s typical treating cases of PDPN, and analyzing the etiology, pathogenesis, location of disease, syndrome differentiation and medication, and summarizing the experiences of professor Lan Zhang’s treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Results: 1.Professor Lan Zhang believes that the disease is asthenia in origin and excessive in superficiality."The asthenia in origin" is embodied in the deficiency of yin, Yang,Qi,blood of the body and disorder of the viscera function,which are resulting in collateral’s empty.it will lead to the pain without nourishing. "The excessive in superficiality" means the blood stasis and it will lead to the pain without clear. 2. Professor Lan Zhang believes that this disease should belong to "collateral disease", “the collateral clear "as the basic criteria.Applying supplementing qi, nourishing Yin, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis as the basic treatment, medicating through flexible addition and subtraction, with syndrome differentiation and treatment, the effect is remarkable. Conclusion: 1. Professor Lan Zhang believes that “blood stasis and collateral damage” is the basicpathogenesis of PDPN, who is emphasizing supplementing qi and nourishing Yin, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis as the basic treatment of criteria, taking the disease differentiation and the dialectical as a combination.It’s effect is remarkable, and it has clinical value.
