The article utilizes field survey method and the literature review, contrastivedescription method and so on to study the kinfolk appellation of Huaian dialect. Onthis basis, we provide an overview of the research history and status of the kinfolkappellation of Huaian dialect. we give the comparison of the synchronic descriptionof Huaian dialect kinship. And we make a diachronic contrast to three generation ofHuaian dialect. Finally we summarize the features of Huaian dialect kinship systemand its development trend in general.This paper summarizes features of kinship terms in Huaian dialect from threeperspectives, that is speech,form and pragmatic. The phonetic characters include thefeatures of the initials which is not distinguish between the nasals and laterals,flattened and cacuminal, aspirated sound and unaspirated sound and the features ofvowels which is compound vowels tone to be single and not distinguish betweenNasal and After nasal and existence of literary and colloquial. The formal charactersis "prefix+root+suffix", which includes additional type and synthetic type. Thepragmatic characters include some phenomenon of using kinfolk appellation.Under the influence of vocabulary evolution, speech evolution, languagecontact, social influence and the popularization of Mandarin, different dialects havethe same features, but a part of it still retains its own characteristics. Through thecomparative study, we found that the Huaian dialect kinship system in the synchroniclevel has the following evolution: the southern City is faster, a lot of kinship termshave disappeared. While the northern rural is relatively slower. In the last level,affected by Putonghua, from old to young, Huaian dialect kinship system is simplifiedand generalized.
