With its unique style,director Wong Kar-wai’s films are dominate in Hong Kong film circles.Shunji Iwai’s films are unique in the film in Japan for its fresh and unique images, delicate euphemism expression.As the 20 th century two successful films of Asia,Wong Kar-wai and Shunji Iwai with a keen grasp of the ethos of the urban population, to create a Department of highly stylized film that full of rich oriental implication.They are Succeeded in positioning themselves as veritable "urban sensibility" video presentation persons.Although they belong to different nationalities, but their films in the creative process,care theme, artistic style and aesthetic style, and so did coincide.This thesis includes three parts :an introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction begin to clarify the reasons for Wong Kar-wai and Shunji Iwai’s research from the background and significance of the paper,and review the current academic, arts and research status,summarizes the research content and methods.Body part is comparative study of four aspects,from the cultural characteristics of image analysis,gap analysis themed movie, movies style and personalized analysis, similarity analysis of film aesthetics.From the theme of view, Wong Kar-Wai film tells the story of Hong Kong urban fable, Shunji Iwai film interpretation of Japanese youth fairy tale, both works reveal individual human loneliness and absurdity.From the image style, their films are showing abstract narrative and aesthetic characteristics of the image, but in the choice of the narrative subject, there are some differences.From an aesthetic style point of view, both films are exhibited mood, image, Zen and other aesthetic paradigms and introverted, reserved,and other aesthetic psychology.But in the modern commercial and impact of the wave, the two also sought without abandoning traditional film aesthetics while great to meet the needs of the present era of the film.
