Felix mendelssohn is a composer, pianist, conductor, music educator and social activist of theromantic period in Germany. He is one of the most representative figures in German romantic music history,and the most important person for music in the19th century European. He has dual background of bothclassical music culture and the humane trainings. He plays a crucial role in the accomplishment of Bach’smusic revival. His works almost covers all forms of music. He is known as "the most perfect music-formmaster after Mozart”. This paper mainly demonstrates the music characteristics and singing style of theduet work, Wie Kann Ich Froh Und Lustig Sein, of Mendelssohn, as well as the significance and value invocal training. I will illustrate this from the following four aspects:His angles of creation are very broad, including all kinds of instrumental music works, and the chorus,still, solo vocal music works and art songs.First, outlines the growing environment and social background of Mendelssohn. We can understandthe evolution of Mendelssohn’s style and analyzes his creating style through the analysis of his growingand study experience.Second, have a detailed and comprehensive analysis toward the musical characteristics and singingstyle of Wie Kann Ich Froh Und Lustig Sein.The last, analyze the art value of Mendelssohn’s duet works and its significance in vocal training.
