Coiling is the last process in hot strip production that is in charge of coiling the strip from finishing rolls into final coil of strip. The quality of final goods has a directly relationship with the working performance of coiler system. Taking the reconstruction project of the coiler control system in AnSteel1700mm hot strip Mill as the background, the coiler control system as the research object, The dissertation completed the design, procedural programming and commissioning of the system.The original coiler control system based on SIMADYN_D was introduced by AnSteel from Germany SIEMENS company in1996. The procedure and software was also provided by SIEMENS. The system was used so many years that some problems occurred such as aging of the hardware, high failure rate of the equipment, and difficulty in procuring the spares, etc. In the control scheme, the design of trigger timing sequence for wrapper rolls’automatic jumping control of original procedure is not so reasonable that first several circles of thin strip usually couldn’t be twined on the mandrel tightly. And the design of original procedure does not include the function of gap automatic calibration for wrapper rolls. Consequently, the calibration of manual measurement for wrapper rolls’gap must be adopted causing the probably big measuring error of wrapper rolls’gap. The above problems have bad impacts on regular production and quality of products.Focusing on the above problems, the dissertation put forward the reconstruction scheme of coiler computer system in AnSteel1700hot strip mill based on TDC. SIEMENS company’s TDC was selected as the hardware to upgrade the original system, while the procedure of new coiler control system was completed by our own engineers. After studying the original control scheme, the hardware design of the whole system was realized in the reconstruction project including:hardware configuration on TDC host stations, network connection configuration of the whole system, deployment of procedures function among different processors, HIM design, etc. CFC was used as programming software of TDC. Some key technologies were completed as follows:strip tracking, logic of coilers state switching, calculation of coil’s diameter, speed settings of mandrels and pinch rolls, tension model deduction, gap automatic calibration for pinch rolls, wrapper rolls’ automatic jumping control, etc. Especially the added function of gap automatic calibration for pinch rolls, guaranteeing the measurement precision, has an important significance to improvement of quality of coils. Analyze the defect of trigger timing sequence for wrapper rolls’ automatic jumping control in original scheme and put forward an improvement method. After optimizing procedure, the method was guaranteed successful by PDA monitoring and actual production.The reconstruction project was completed and the test run was successfully finished in November2011. The new system has run stably so far, and is suitable for manufacturing technique of the factory. The research, development and practical work in the dissertation have a guiding significance to independent domestic integration of coiler control system in hot strip mill. Meanwhile, the dissertation has built a foundation to improvement of coils’ shape quality furthermore.
