The lead and zinc mineral resources is one of the important strategic mineral resources inChina. It widely used in electrical, mechanical, metallurgical, chemical,pharmaceutical, military and other fields. With the sustained and rapid growth of theeconomy, the demand for lead zinc raw material is also increasing. However, with theincreasing exploitation of lead and zinc resources, the lead and zinc mineralresources gradually become’poor, fine, complex, difficult’, and the loss that because of thekind of problem leads to separation difficulties is quite amazing every year. If such mineralcan be recycled, it will help to saves resources, increase efficiency and reduce pollution.Taking fankou lead-zinc mine slime in Guangdong province as the research object,theresearch showed that in slime, the main metal mineral were galena, sphalerite and pyrite,andthe main gangue minerals were quartz, sericite and calcite, followed by dolomite and chlorite.The slime size was very small, d95was about38μm, d50was about10μm. Lead and zinc inpart-10μm,metal accumulation was46.38%. The content of-5μm was43%, and metalaccumulation was38.60%. Slime lead-zinc grade was low, lead’s and zinc’s grade werearound3.2%, and the dressing was difficult.In view of the slime, in order to effectively recycle the purpose mineral, on the basis ofprocess mineralogy, after a series of conditional experiments, the best flotation conditionswere determined. Under this premise, the separation of lead and zinc was studied. In addition,the open circuit test, closed circuit test and the industrial test were carried out.The final test results showed that, in the condition of particle size, galena’sand sphalerite’s flotation performance were very similar, and the corresponding inhibitors oractivator had no obvious effect.To obtain a single concentration of lead and zinc wasextremely difficult to achieve by the separation of lead-zinc in the slime. Considering fromeconomy and the actual situation of the factory, using lead and zinc bulk flotation process andproducing lead and zinc mixed concentrate was the reasonable choice for the plant.Theprocess was not only low cost and difficulty, but also it had the relatively high grade andrecovery rate.Under the optimal conditions, after one roughing test, the mixed concentrate’s grade canbe obtained by about24%, and the recovery rate is about69%. The plant use one roughing,two scavenging and three selection flotation process, eventually get the lead-zinc mixedconcentrate that the grade is44.17%, and the recovery rate is70.38%.
