The Research On Forestry Geographic Information Sharing Mechanism Based On Gml

With the rapid development of computer technology, geographic information syst em technology has been rapidly improved. How to build an open geographic data environment and improve data interoperability are more andmore important in rece nt years. Many GIS software developers have realized a number of solutions to a chieve it. However, successful implementation of a geographic information system depends on the users'understanding and mastering of the existing geographical dat a. The forestry field has wide range of diverse data sources, so users often are fa ced with different data formats, different data characteristics and geographic data b ased on different coordinate reference system. Although the major software vendor s provide solutions to solve part of the problem, but how to effectively integrate users in data sharing and interoperation of heterogeneous data from different sourc es of forestry is still a problem need tobe solved.Data integration and sharing through the establishment of standardizedcriteria is not a new point of view. But in actual operation, there exists some problems. G ML is a geographic data description standard which is established by OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) accepted by many organizations. It is used to describe all things on Earth. Principals achieved in the article are as follow:(1)Based on the characteristics of forestry and GML, we have developeda set of forestry data description method for geographic information. Itis used in forestry d ata description for data users when conducting forestry geographic data integration. It is the forestry Markup Language (Forestry Markup Language, FML).(2) According to Geo-web concept, based on ROA framework and REST metho ds, we have constructed the FML in the integration of Internet sharing mechanis m.(3) Based on the above content, using open source software system prototype, we test the applicability of FML and the feasibility, economy andpracticality of th e systems which build by open software to achieve the data sharing.Based on the FML framework and sharing mechanisms proposed in this paper, we can establish an effective integration of forestry information inthe field of GIS data sharing and interoperability of data environment and promote the flow of dat a and applications. The accessibility of the data environment only provide a found ation for data users and applications, but how to improve data displaying for data users to understand the data information efficiently and application of users in the business process aspects need to be studied in future.
