Sts Study From Philosophy Perspective

STS (Science, Technology and Society), born in the 1960s and 1970s, represents a new phase of the theory to practice; however, due to various difficulties of fundamental theory, such as the complexity of research subject, the broad nature of the content, the ambiguity of discipline classification and so on, it still suffers from being questioned by its legal presence in the philosophical area and all other relevant arguments. Thus, from a philosophy perspective, the study on STS over the subject of its legality and legitimacy has become what we must face.This article firstly started with the definition of STS by analyzing terms, tracking the process of her birth in history and comparing contemporary characteristics. Based on the analysis of "Science Technology and Society", this paper provided a perspective of theorical basis in common by providing the "Human-Science & Technology-Society-Nature" model of theory derived from the relationship between human and the nature. Furthermore, this paper inspected three changes of awareness of intermediary between human and the nature from the perspective of development of the relationship between human and the nature, and illustrated the nature of STS, that is the reconstruction of relationship between human and the nature. Then, within the narrative of human and the nature in a large extent, this paper illustrated social functions of STS, the path to reconstruct the relationship between human and nature, which in theory level facilitates culture harmony and integration across disciplines and in reality level proposes public participation in decision-making concerning Science and Technology. At last, this paper pointed out dilemma of current theoretical research is because STS research merely disperse and indulge in direct facts, but have not established the framework of the relationship between analysis and research; to resolve the dilemma should be based on speculative pattern in the relationship between human and nature and to practice, under the framework of the relationship, the theoretical introspection on the survival and development of human beings.The creativity of this paper consist of the following parts:first, developed the "Human-Science&Technology-Society-Nature" model of theory; second, considered the development of STS as the third change, from the Social Construction to comprehensive integration of STS, in awareness of intermediary between human and the nature in contemporary society (the first change is the awareness from scratch, and the second from the Autonomy to the Social Construction).
