With the speeding up of the production scale and pace of steel mills as well as the c onstantly growing of IT implementation, there is a higher demand and requirement of th e Data Acquisition(DA) in the computer measuring system in the whole information sy stem. It’s crucial to provide detailed data report to management in real time and promote the controllable productivity in the processing. So it’s a must trend to build Data Acquis ition System(DAS) for modern steel mills.DAS is based on computer measuring system products to realize the flexible and user defined measuring systems. DA on the production site is an import part of the quality control. A good DA solution can free QA managers from time consuming data processing work and enable them to deal with real QA problems, meanwhile, real-time DA can help the system with real-time monitoring, so as to find problems in early stage and avoid bigger loss.With the increase of the production scale and speed, and the development of the information construction, the measurement data acquisition, which is an important part of the information construction of the enterprises, is expected to have a higher standard. Thus it has become very important how to provide elaborate and accurate real time data to the management to increase the controllability and efficiency of the production process. Therefore, it has become the trend to construct measurement data acquisition system in modern metallurgical enterprises. The design concept is as follows: measurement data acquisition system is to use all the measure points of the automation departments in metallurgical enterprises as individual acquisition points, which are linked together into a whole system to realize the automatic acquisition and generation of the measurement data. After the system is installed in different departments of the enterprise, the measurement data of any period of time can be inquired within the extent of competence of the plant. The system presents visually the related medium of energy resource, the transportation of original burn material, and the historical data of any period of time.The thesis focuses on the research on data acquisition and its development. Combined with the actual manufacture of Steel Plant of Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company, the integrated application of wireless data transmission, hand-held terminal and Socket technology to the system has obtained good effect, and therefore, is of reference value in the similar development of data acquisition.
