Rolls is the device for squeezing the strip steel and forcing them deformations. The rolls is the core device of the mill. Other parts around the housing are for installing, supporting and adjusting the rolls, besides, make the strip pass the rolls easily. This paper is based on 1450 Reversing 6-h cold rolling of some company as a research object, and makes use of ANSYS software to check for the designed rolls on strength and stiffness. The results can provide theoretical basis for the rolls optimization design, and also provide some references for future design.Through further reading and analyzing the development survey and present situation in 6-h cold rolling mills, and combining the present development tendency of existent mills. Then we conclude its advantages and practicality. Besides, we do a analyses on strength and stiffness combining with the actual working condition.The paper summarizes theoretical designing of the rolls which is based on the mechanics of materials and theoretical mechanics and empirical formula. Through studying strength checking theory about 4-h rolling mills, we conclude the strength conditions on 6-h roll, and analyze the impacting factors which result in rolls deformation.The article states the basic theory of ANSYS, and finishes creating the modeling base on 1450 Reversing 6-h cold mills, and then do rolls non-linear contact analysis on it. By calculating different working roll diameter, intermediate roll diameter, and backup roll diameter, we get the rules of influence that different roll diameters cause corresponding contact stress. Finally we do a calculation and Curve fitting for different bending-roll force on work rolls and intermediate roll, thus obtain regularity cognition. The results can offer references to rolls design and development.
