Kidney Circulation Removing Phlegm To The Treatment Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Objective: TO observe the effect of Bushen Huayu Qutan treatment on regulating serum level of testosterone (T), fasting insulin (INS) and improving clinical symptoms and signs in patients with polycystic ovary cyndrome (PCOS) accompanied by insulin resistance (IR), and to explore the method of traditional Chinese medicine in treating PCOS. Methods: Thirty-five patients with PCOS-IR but non-higher biood glucose were randomly classified into the treated group with Chinese herbal medicine Bushen Huayu Qutan treatment(group A,20 cases) and the control group with metformin(group B,15 cases). Clinical symptoms and signs improvments and serum T, INS levels were analyzed before and after therapy. Results:The total effective rate of group A was 80%,significantly higher than that of group B (66%, P<0.01).In comparing the two groups, improving clinical symptoms and signs , inducing ovulation and lowering in body mass index(BMI) in group A were significantly better than thoseof group B,while decreasing in serum T, INS levels in group B was better than thatof groupA.Conclusion: Bushen Huayu Qutan treatment is effective in treating PCOS-IR, and without any side effect. It is worthile to be used in the clinical practice and further investigated.
