Needling Clinical Studies For The Treatment Of Idiopathic Trigeminal Neuralgia

Objective:By observing the clinical curative effect of acupuncture on patients with Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN), compare the scores of symptoms ,ache-seeing simulation table of patients , the function of Liver and Kidney and the level of vasoactive intestinal polypeptide(VIP) before and after treatment between control group and treatment one, according to which provide a effective therapy method for acupuncture treating TN and offer a scientific basis. Methods:Study was performed on 72 patients with TN coming from in-patient of acupuncture department of HuBei Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, who were randomly divided into 2 groups: acupuncture group, which was composed of 36 patient who were treated by acupuncturing such points as quanliao, fenglong and yanglingquan point; control group ,comprised 36 patients treated by Western medicine-Carbamazepine Tablets .We compare the scores of symptoms ,ache-seeing simulation table of patients , the function of Liver and Kidney and the level of VIP before and after treatment between control group and treatment one, then study the comparability ,superiority and otherness. Results:1 The two data were comparable by X~2-test.2 Clinic Evaluation The remarkably improved rates of the acupuncture group and Western medicine group were 69.4% and 55.6% respectively. The improved rates of the two groups were 88. 9% and 75%.There were significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05),Obviously, the acupuncture group was superior to the Western medicine group.3 The changes of the scores of symptoms and ache-seeing simulation table of patients before and after treatment between control group and treatment one: after treatment, the scores and the indexes of ache-seeing simulation table obviously meliorate.4 The changes of the function of Liver and Kidney After treatment, the changes of the function of Liver and Kidney of the acupuncture group were not obvious, P>0.05,it has no statistical significance ,but that of Western medicine group, especially the level of ALT,AST and Cr increased. P<0.05.At the same time, compared between the two groups, it has distinct difference.5The change of VIP Both groups had the same trend of change. The level of VIP were decreased, thereinto, that of the acupuncture group was decreased significantly(P<0.05). While that of Western medicine group was declined insignificantly(P>0.05). Conclusion:Both acupuncture and Western medicine can alleviate the degree of ache and have obviously therapeutic effects on TN, and acupuncture group is superior.
