Scutellaria babarta D.Don is an important Chinese traditional medicine recorded in the Pharmacopecia of People's Republic of China (ed. 2005). It is a commonly used drug for antipyretic, anticanser and diureses therapy. The author has investingated the chemical constitutes separated from the ethanol extracts. In this thesis, the chemical constituents of the ethanol extracts from Scutellaria babarta D.Don were studied, 13 compounds were isolated with silica gel columns, aluminium oxide columns, polyamide columns, Sephdax LH-20 columns, preparative TLCs, etc. On the basis of 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS data and physicochemical characters, their chemical structures were elucidated as Stigmasterol (1), stigmast-4-en-3-one (2), 4'-hydroxywogonin (3), apigenin (4), luteolin (5), 6-hydroxycoumarin (6), 6-methoxynaringenin (7), vanillic acid (8), naringenin (9), p-hydroxycinnamic acid (10), isovanillic acid (11), isocarthamidin (12), protocatechuic acid (13), respectively. Of all these compounds, compound 6 was isolated for the first time from Scutellaria, while compounds 8 and 11 were isolated from Scutellaria babarta D.Don for the first time.
