The Xuancheng Dialect Word Comparison Study

Xuancheng County lies in the southeast of Anhui Province, which is surrounded by Langxi County and Guangde County to its east, Wuhu City and Nanling County to its west. Ningguo City and Jing County to its south, Dangtu County and Gaochun County of Jiangsu Province to its north.Now there are two most influential dialects in Xuancheng. Jiang - huai dialect(its representative is Xuancheng-City dialect in the paper ) is an immigration dialect which comes from the north. Xuanzhou-Wuyu(its representative is Jinpai dialect in the paper) is a local original dialect. Jiang - huai dialect have been dominant and becomed the representative dialect in Xuancheng. Xuanzhou-Wuyu is surrounded by Jiang - huai dialect which is constantly intensely influencing and infiltrating it. There is a thorough and painstaking description and analysis on the two dialects' vocabulary. We do the comparison between Xuancheng-City dialect's vocabulary and the common spoken Chinese's Jinpai dialect's vocabulary in morphology meaning and origin of words to reveal the features of Xuancheng Jiang - huai dialect's and Xuanzhou-Wuyu's vocabulary , and wu try to probe into the relation between the two dialects from there vocabulary. Our conclusion is:Forst, Xuancheng Jiang - huai dialect is different from the common spoken Chinese in morphology meaning and origin of words , which have some features for itself.Second, There are not only the sames but also the differences between Xuancheng Jiang - huai dialect and Xuanzhou-Wuyu, but the sames are larger than the differences. The two dialects have lateral infiltration relation and longitudinal origin relation.Third, Xuanzhou-Wuyu's vocabulary is influenced and infiltrated by Jiang - huai dialect's vocabulary in Xuancheng. So we predict that Xuanzhou-Wuyu will continually draws close to Jiang - huai dialect and to the common spoken Chinese at last.The paper consists of five parts.
