Siyang Dialect Negative Questions

Siyang is located on the northern of Jiangsu Province.South to Hongze Lake,east to Huaian and north to Shuyang,Siyang borders on Sihong and Suqian.According to the dialect divisions, Siyang Dialect belongs to the secondary Jianghuai Dialect.Within Siyang,two major types of dialect and Northern Dialect meet and merge:therefore,this region is of great value for dialect research while having the characteristics of Jianghuai and else Northern Dialects.This paper mainly discusses the Quasi-interrogative question sentence of Siyang Dialect.On the basis of fieldwork,the paper adopts syntactic,semantic and pragmatic approaches in order to describe and explain the feature of that.Then,based on descriptive and analysing language facts, it compares with Putonghua and other dialects,showing historical resources of that as well as its local features.The paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 briefly introduces Siyang and the dialects of the region.By reviewing the great research,works of this field,it outlines the Pinyin systerm and proposes that kind of sentences is interrogative sentence using interrogative words,tone adverbs and conjunction of positive and negative means.It also illustrates the research contents and methods.Chapter 2 gives details in seven types of Siyang Dialects as well as formation,usage and requiring of concerning words.Chapter 3 probes into features of that sentence.Imperfect and perfect tense exist disparity.In structural forms,only three types similarise the contemporary Chinese.While in syntactic elements,the conjunction of positive and negative forms can be used as predicates,adverbial,complement and even subject.In addition,it also can be conjuncted with other types of interrogative sentences.Chapter 4 compares Siyang Dialect with Putonghua and other regional dialects and concludes that the former features Jianghuai Dialect and certain elements of Northern Dialect,embodying complicacy of transient area's dialect.The last concludes the main content,values and puts forward the questions that is hoping to be solved.
