The adverb is a class of Chinese function words which is complicated and difficult to master in contemporary Chinese language. It not only has some grammatical features of Content Words, but also has the personality characteristics of function words. Although the function of adverb syntax is relatively simple, some usual adverbs not only have a high rate of recurrence, but also have rich and varied syntactic structures. Many adverbs'meaning and usage are compounded by the different context and tone. Sometimes, even for the native people, it is difficult to point out its meaning quickly and accurately. Such errors'appearance is inevitable while learning it for foreign students who are new to Chinese. Therefore, the adverb's teaching has also been a focus and difficulty for the teaching Chinese as the foreign language.As its semantic is complicated, the usage frequency is high and a relative concentration of error in using, this paper selected "zai" as the object of study from the adverb in contemporary Chinese language. Based on the ontology research of "zai", in accordance with the corpus linguistics and inter-language theory, this paper discusses, by the inter-language corpus in Beijing Language and Culture University and the methods of acquisition research and error analysis, international students' circumstances in using common adverbs "zai" form 801 corpuses. Analyze five senses of "zai" and the form and meaning from 27 grammatical terms. The acquisition sequence of five meaning and 27 terms about "zai" and error categories are discussed. It also analyzes the reasons of error and advances some corresponding suggestions. Finally, based on these discussions, some comments are advanced on improving the textbook compiling and teaching about teaching Chinese as a foreign language. We hope to provide some help to the author of textbook, the teacher and Chinese language learner.
