Now in China primary and middle school students’ learning burden has become a common phenomenon in basic education.The study’s object are junior school students,the method of study is empirical investigation. Through quantitative research,the study analysis learning burden of junior high school students from different family background. Learning burden is divided into objective learning burden and subjective learning burden. Objective learning burden contain relatively objective indicators such as the learning time, homework, times of tests, times of attending Remedial class. Subjective learning burden is the students’ feeling of homgwork, class,examation. The results of the survey:the students from different family background is different in the the size and structure of objective learning burden.The family background is better,the objective learning burden is bigger.For the middle school students from low-level family background,the burden from school is the biggest in objective learning burden,the second is from themselves,the third is from family,the difference among them is obvious. For the middle school students from middle-level family background,the burden from themselves is the biggest in objective learning burden,the second is from school,the third is from family, the difference among them is relative obvious. For the middle school students from high-level family background,the burden from themselves is the biggest in objective learning burden, but the difference among them is subtle. However,the students from different family background is similar in the the size and structure of subjective learning burden.At the same time,the paper compare the three factors that affect the size of learning burden:father’s income, record of formal schooling, occupation. The results of the survey is following:father’s record of formal schooling and occupation has a obvious influence on the size of objective learning burden, father’s income has little influence on the size of objective learning burden. While three factors has little influence on the size of subjective learning burden.After showing the result of the empirical investigation,the researcher try to explain the result.The paper explain the reason why the students from different family background is different in the the size and structure of objective learning burden through analysis school,family,themselves three aspects. At the end of the study,the researcher analysisof the Deep social reason for the students’ being overburdened with study burden.The main four reasons are following:the firstly, Chinese traditional culture appreciate the spirit of "studing hard",’success by studing";secondly, For the students from low-level family background,studying give them the important chance to improve their destinys;thirdly, high quality education resources is scarcity not equilibrium; the last,the right of education autonomy of’our primary and middle school is missing seriously.
