Urban Residential Environment, Research, And Neighborhood Sociability

As the rhythm becoming faster and faster, the pressure endured by citizens is heavier and heavier, and the relation between residents is icier and icier. A lot of social mater is shaping in so many communities, such as long distance between local residents and the short of sense of belonging. However, communication, as a basic requirement of human-being, does be the deepest wish. Neighborhood of each community is one of such important part in every relation. Half time of human is spending in community which he lives, it, whether the planning and design of spatial environment is suitable with requirement or not, impacts on the relation of neighbor. This thesis is basic on the relation of action by neighbor in community and environment, and relation between neighbors in city should be studied from tow aspects, one is the whole planning and the other is the detailed design.In the first, the key word of this thesis is communication. It illuminates the conception of communication, the inherent power and the significance of communication. Not only has the thesis analysed the history of development of communities in China and matters about space and communication of neighbor in it, but also it has summarized those aspects which can impact communication of neighbor.The second, the research base on the theory of spatial behavior (privacy and territoriality) ,Jan Gehl's life between buildings-using public space and environment cognition. This thesis analyses the characteristics of action by communities, it brings that a spatial environment of community in country will be propitious to enhance the time staying outside, create the environment of public life, increase the suitability of space, and improve the sense of place and the sense of belonging of residents. And then, the thesis has studied those factors which will be propitious to communication of neighborhood from tow sides, one is the whole planning and the other is the detailed design.
