Multi-media technology is the most attractive technical field nowadays, which is being used to deal with all kinds of information in the 21 century. Multi-media technology utilizes computer to process different types of information, such as letters, graphs, pictures, voices, flashes, videos, etc, makes them logically connect together and integrate into an information system. As being applied to teaching filed, multi-media technology has had great influence on the innovation and development of education. To organize teaching activities with multi-media computer can achieve different goals: creating a good teaching environment based on its abundant resources and an operating environment with human-computer interaction; organizing teaching information reasonably, etc. Therefore, multi-media technology which is being widely used in teaching field will have great influence on the 21 Century's teaching and bring about a significant revolution to the traditional ways of teaching.Based on the characteristics of multi-media technology and the teaching practices of middle schools (mainly high schools) in our country, this essay mainly discusses and studies four aspects: the introduction of multi-media classroom teaching, some relevant concepts on multi-media technology, the application of multi-media technology in middle school teaching, and how to utilize multi-media technology properly in teaching.Chapter 1 expatiates on the aim and significance of producing and studying this question. Firstly, it analyses the contemporary education background, i.e. utilizing multi-media technology is the basic need to promote teaching innovation, adapt to information society, and popularize information-technology education. Promoting teaching innovation and quality education is the duty-bond responsibility of every teacher. Everybody is in both the favor and threaten of the booming information with the high-speed development of information technology. Therefore, it is necessary to accept life-long education and implement education innovation which emphasizes the cultivation of students'innovative spirit and practicing ability. In order to educate qualified talents for the 21 century, the modernization of education must be promoted by informationization. Secondly, it explains the aim and significance of the study and emphasizes the importance of the researching work.Chapter 2 mainly expatiates on the relevant concepts and basic knowledge of multi-media technology. Multi-media technology is a kind of information technology which combines different kinds of multi-media information together and processes them comprehensively through computer. In the early 90s, as the newest achievement appears in computer field at that time, multi-media technology conquered human beings by its abundant information and excellent performance. Nowadays, the high-speed development of computer makes multi-media technology more mature. It combines closely with Computer-assisted Instruction and the Multiple CAI (MCAI) came into being. MCAI overcame many defects in traditional teaching, created a brand-new teaching environment and made the management, supervision and assessment of modern teaching more scientific and reasonable.Chapter 3 expatiates on the application of multi-media technology in middle school teaching. Firstly, it tells about the educational advantages of multi-media technology; then explains the great significance of using it in middle school teaching: improving the whole teaching level, educating both teachers and students'information disposition, improving teaching quality, promoting the innovation of teaching methods, accelerate the renovation of teaching material and structure. Thirdly, it enumerates several forms of application in middle school teaching. Lastly, it puts forward some items that we must be attentive to when using multi-media technology in teaching process. And the purpose is to foster strengths and circumvent weaknesses in practical teaching.Chapter 4 expatiates on how to utilize multi-media technology properly in middle school teaching. Firstly, it introduces several concrete measures on how to use it properly. Then it adduces some teaching cases in order to illustrate better. In the end it calls on the whole education institutions, schools, teachers to create a better condition and multi-media teaching environment and make multi-media teaching more profitable in middle school teaching.
