Moment of inertia of rigid body have important physical significance. In scientific experiments, engineering technology navigation space, electric power, machinery, instruments and other industrial areas is an important parameter.in ship model test,measure of moment of inertia is An important segment.at present most of scientific research institution use traditional way to measure moment of inertia for ship model,In this way it is more complicated and Take Too Long, because of human factors it will effect error.Combining with the subject research and project need, we developed a set of inertia measuring system,this system is used to measure moment of inertia for ship model.This article chooses compound pendulum method for basic principle of this measuring device,And details the schematic formulas for This System. Design of collective structure for this equipment have been finished, Mathematical formulas for moment of inertia measurement prototype instrument for ship model have been derived, The entire process for this measuring system have been constructed.This article elaborated on mechanical part for moment of inertia measurement prototype instrument for ship model,including mechanical structure part and innovation part.in mechanical structure part, Each component design reason and advantages were explained,The stress state and deformation condition of main structure have been Analysed. In innovation part it include Architectural Innovation and Materials Innovation. In Architectural Innovation,I have devised a new physical construction,this physical construction can serves several purposes,it can measure crosswise moment of inertia and also can measure lengthways moment of inertia;in materials innovation,I have considered aluminum alloy is lighter than steel,devised a bracket with aluminum alloy,in this way it can improve measuring accuracy.In the part of measuring and data processing, this article introduced sensors for this instrument and notes.Combining with sensor data and computational formula of moment of inertia measurement prototype instrument for ship model,I use VB to editing a program for this system.the program realized periodic measurement and automatic computing for moment of inertia.In the end,An analysis of measurement error of moment of inertia was carried out, Some program for improving measuring error have been presented.This instrument is proved to be qualified by repetitive experiment.
