In recent years, with the rapid development of our country's economy, such pillar industries as petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, electric power industry have also experienced rapid development. With strong capital and the introduction of new technologies, all walks of businesses rush to build many large projects. Winning these projects can bring both considerable profits and a broad social impact, so many companies are trying to bid for these projects enthusiastically. The process control systems provider in these projects is no exception. Because most projects of the control systems cannot be completed on time and even a single day's delay in the big project will bring a great loss to the customer, many process control companies focus their attention on the project schedule management. In this context, due to the resource constraints and many uncertainties in the large projects, the traditional project management methods can no longer meet the demand. It is more realistic for us to apply the advanced project management theory to the reality of the process control companies and find a scientific method to manage the project schedule. The new method will be suitable for the process control companies and maybe even for all the industrial companies. This paper combines the characteristics of process control systems projects with specific examples. By analyzing the factors which affect the project schedule and applying the critical chain method to the project schedule management, project manager can take effective controls according to the practical situation and make sure the project is carried out as scheduled.
