Objective:To know the echinococcosis'situation of knowledge, attitude, behavior and practice(KABP)among the adolescent students in hydatidosis health education demonstrationplot in Xinjiang. Discuss the relation between the high incidence of echinococcosis and the level of prevention knowledge. Health education and promotion were carried out aiming at providing experience and materials for setting up scientific evaluate system; Through a survey on KABP and diagnosis and treatment level status of hydatid disease(HD)among doctors who work in demonstration hospitals, tried to find out whether they had enough knowledge about HD, and whether they had capability to supply effective diagnoses, treatments, and preventive ways to the people.Method:Prospective, comprehensive intervention trial with self-control was used in research. The intervention population were the students in two schools located in hydatidosis health education demonstrationplot of Xinjiang were selected through the complete cluster random sampling method. Intervention measures of health education were used for this crowd. Impact evaluation was constituted by qualitative and quantitative approaches. A cross-sectional survey was conducted. By random sampling, the questionnaire which included KABP of HD was used. This study involved medical workers in twelve demonstration hospitals to diagnose and treat HD. Meanwhile, the registration of cooperation hospitals baseline questionnaire was to find out diagnosis and treatment level status of HD. Data was managed and inputted with software of Epidata3.02.All statistical analyses were performed using the Stata7.0 and SPSS 11.0 statistical software.Results1.The average ages of investigated subjects of pre-intervention and post-intervention were (11.52±3.07) and (13.04±2.25).The level of education for the objects of study was high in pre-intervention than in post-intervention. This study involved 585 medical workers (40.2% for men,59.8% for women).152 doctors among them were in hospital classIII, and the rest were in hospital classⅡ. The average ages and working period of them were (34.9±10.2) and 13;Technical title, however, was low(34.2% for attending physician and above);Medical workers with high education background were also a few (6.2% for graduate degrees,44.1% for bachelor's degree,39.1% for junior college degree and 10.6% for technical school education).2.There were different increases in the level of KAB, the average scores among the population with different age in the intervention community between the end surveys.6~7age groups raised higher than other age-specific groups.3.There were different increases of the level of KAB, the average scores among the students with different age,6~7age groups rose more significantly than other groups. In the intervention community, awareness rate and controlling rate of students'HD in the end survey were higher than those in the baseline survey (P<0.05). 4.Mastery of HD knowledge of diagnosis and treatment relates to age, educational history, the title of a technical postand where he/she works. The diagnosis and therapy level is closely linked with sources and update of new information.5.The knowledge about HD of respondents in hospital classⅡwas not enough. Individualized and comprehensive of diagnosis and treatment plan was a little chaotic. The diagnosis and therapy of HD level vary widely. Most of medical workers were unaware of the new progresses of echinococcosis diagnosis and treatment. The Knowledge aging phenomenon was serious.6.There were more medical workers who diagnosed HD in hospital classⅡthan in hospital classⅢ.Medical workers who worked in hospital classⅡwere on strong demand.Conclusion1.The echinococcosis' situation of KABP among the adolescent students in hydatidosis health education demonstrationplot in Xinjiang had insufficient ideal. It can be conducted to increase the level of KABP of the echinococcosis, raise and promote the whole epidemic residents, cognitive level and self protection consciousness of echinococcosis by teaching, multimedia, brochure, flip charts.2.The knowledge about HD of respondents who worked in hospital classⅡwas not enough and standardized training and guidance about it was required urgently.
