Research On Speech Sound Of Peihuicun Dialect Of Wenshui Dialect Of Shanxi Dialects

The Wenshui City lies in the central part of Shanxi province. Wenshui dialect is one of the dialects of Binzhou part of Jin dialects, and there are some differences in itself. In this thesis, Wenshui dialect is divided into four parts by the multi-level approach. The four parts are southern accent, northern accent, eastern accent and central accent, and there is the biggest difference between the southern accent and the Chengguan accent. This thesis takes the speech sound of Peihuicun, representative of southern accent, as the main research object. Sound of individual character, sandhi and the historical sound change have been researched. Besides, the inner differences of the speech sound of Peihuicun and the differences among Peihuicun dialect, Chengguan of Wenshui dialect and Fenyang dialect have be compared, then changes of the speech sound of Peihuicun would be observed.This thesis composes of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the situation of Wenshui city and Wenshui dialect. The geographic position, population and the history of Wenshui have been shown. The inner differences of Wenshui dialect and the features of the sound speech of Peihuicun have been shown too.The second chapter describes the sound of individual character, including 25 initials (include zero initial), 41 vowels and five tones, and on the basis, a syllabary have been built. In addition, Peihuicun dialect has literary and colloquial reading system, and final differences in it up to a maximum.The third chapter describes the sandhi, the sanhi between two words and retroflex suffixation have been researched mainly. It is found that there are three types of neutral tone, both the short and light tone, and neither short nor light tone. And Yinping and Yangping can be separated clearly from Pingsheng when Pingsheng together with neutral tone. Cizhuoru and Quanzhuoru can be separated partly from Yangru when Yangru together with neutral tone. Besides, the classification of retroflex suffixation of final determined by the main vowel of the preceding syllable.The fourth chapter describes the historical sound change. Firstly, a comparison between the Peihuicun dialect and Guangyun system has been given. Then, the evolution of some phonetic characters has been studied base on the comparison of the old variety and the new variety.In the last chapter, the characters of transitional dialect of Peihuicun dialect have been discussed. Peihuicun dialect is changing from the Fenyang type to the Chengguan of Wenshui type.The investigation and study to the speech sound of Peihuicun can not only enrich the research result of Wenshui dialect, Binzhou part and Luliang part of jin dialects, but also have some value to the research of the history of Jin dialects.
