The Kalamaili region is located in the north margin of the Junggar basin andincludes the area of the south of Karmantai-Beitashan. It is part of the central Asianorogenic belt and also the important part of the central Asia-Xingmeng metallogenicregion. Its tectonic position belongs to suture site of Siberian plate and Jungeerlandmass(Kazakstan-Jungeer plate), where the tectonic setting is complicated and themagmatic activity is intense. From the view of metallogenic zone, it belongs to theKalamaili-Moqinwula metallogenic belt (IV-grade metallogenic belt) of theKaramaili-Daerbute gold metallogenic belt (III-grade metallogenic belt) and is theimportant metallogenic zone in XinJiang Province because84percent of the Au andCu ore deposits are located in this region.Field geological investigation has been made in the typical oredeposits(occurrences)(Qingshuiquan Cu ore occurrence, Huangyangxi Au oreoccurrence, Songkeersu Cu ore occurrence, Sujiquandong Au ore deposit, JinshuiquanAu ore deposit) of the Kalamaili metallogenic zone. According to the scientificresearch, the controlling structures, metallogenic formation and ore-forming process, the Au and Cu ore deposits of Kalamaili metallogenetic belt are associated withductile shear zone, volcanic and sub-volcanic rocks. Many quantitative assessment methods have been used to evaluate themetallogenic potential of Au and Cu mineral resource: the Au metallogenic potentialof this region is74.893t by the method of abundance-model,85.272t by the methodof rate of commercial ore forming,86.03t by the relationship of the ore reserve andgeochemical anomaly scale,174.47t by the method of DPIS; the Cu metallogenicpotential of this region is1150000t by the method of rate of commercial ore forming;the quantitative assessment shows that the exploration work of Au and Cu ores in thisarea is hopeful.
