With the implementation of China Large Aircraft Project and Aircraft Digital Engineering, and it is explicitly for the automated design and manufacture of large aircraft and large military transport aircraft. The positioning and design of aircraft fasteners assembly connection holes as the main content and an important part of aircraft assembly connection design, the degree of automation of the design process has a serious impact on the efficiency of the aircraft’s design and development. Therefore, according to the urgent demand of aviation enterprises for achieving rapid locating and designing of the assembly connection holes, meantime, in order to achieve the aircraft assembly connection holes positioning and designing automatically and intelligently, thus improving the efficiency of aircraft design and development for the purpose, research the dedicated system for the rapid design of aircraft fastener assembly connection, and complete the work of system development.The main research work include:1. Firstly, the reasons of affecting the aircraft assembly connection design efficiency are analyzed, according to some deficiencies of using the existed design tools designing assembly holes in the aircraft parts, implementing method of achieving assembly connection holes rapid design tools are researched, which can be applied to design assembly holes on plane, inclined plane and surface in part design environment and assembly design environment in this paper.2. Existed design tools can not directly capture the hidden design reference of assembly holes positioned face, so an algorithm of rapidly extracting symmetry reference of assembly holes on positioned face is presented based on the symmetry of primitives in closed boundary, it include global symmetry reference, local symmetry reference and centrosymmetric reference which are used as the design reference of rapidly designing symmetrical assembly holes.3. Secondly, study the implementation method of rapidly publishing axis of existed hole whose axis can be used as design reference of the other assembly holes in assembly design environment; there are assembly holes group repeatedly quoted assembly part, the rapid design methods of assembly holes group based on intelligent templates is proposed.4. Based on the above theoretical studies, an assembly connection holes rapid design tools which can be applied to design assembly holes on plane, inclined plane and surface, and some aided design tools which can be used obtaining some useful design reference are developed by the CAA secondary development mode in the CATIA.
