With the continuous development of manufacture technology, because of accuracy and efficiency, the traditional method of spiral surface design can no longer meet the needs of modern industry, manual design computation hinders the development of spiral surface industry, researching new design method and using computers to implement automation of the design process is clearly important. Computer technology and the rapid development of graphics technology provide technical support for the processing of trajectory simulation and numerical control programming in the application of the helical design process calculation. They enable CNC machine tools in the helical manufacture becoming a reality.Parallel machines have begun to a new generation of machine tools since the nineties with a wide range of research value and good prospects, many researchers gradually rise to the concern. The mechanical structure of parallel machine tool is simple and more complex control system, the general machine tools do not have special advantages than parallel machine tools, but the NC system has not been solved commendably. Therefore, the focus on improving the control accuracy and processing precision of parallel machine tools, it is foremost problem for expanding the application of parallel machine tools.This paper studys tripod CNC grinder and use of form grinding method to process the spiral groove of drill.According to the characteristics of machine tools, establishing mathematical model of the spiral groove and the basic meshingcondition mathematical model of wheel and the spiral groove, analyzing spiral groove and wheel with the relations of contacting position and interference phenomenon, MATLAB numerical analysis solves the causes of interference phenomenon. The cross section curve of general spiral groove and a circular fitting cross section curve do error analysis and compare the error results, using VB compile the CNC interface and procedures and processing simulation, by changing the grinding parameters can generate different types of spiral groove of drills. Tripod CNC machine tool can process a complete bit to be constructed on the rake face and flank model, human-computer interface design and complete processing procedures. Choosing VB as the development of software, good interface and the advantages of programming easily complete control requirements of the grinding.Using PC and control card to configure the open numerical control system, making use of different hardware and software in compatibility and versatility make their respective advantages to play a larger role, this accord with the complex control requirements of parallel machines. Development of spiral groove grinding of drill and drilltip drilling motion simulation software shorten the processing time and improve efficiency and accuracy, they will promote the applications of tripod machine tool in more aspects.
